Jake's Clever Banter
7/4/01 - *Throws confetti in the air*

Note:Okay, before I even get started, let me tell you that we are opening with THREE comics to celebrate this 'site's birth. The one you see above is the third, so, click the "<< First" button to start at the beginning, 'kay?

It begins.... Muahahahahahaha-huh? Oh, sorry. Got a bit carried away there. Well, anyways, this... is Mognet. Tah-da! Waddya' think? Snazzy, no? Well, to introduce myself, I'm Jake McNeill, writer and web guy for this here comic. On this side of the page, you'll see my comments, and on the right side, you'll see Tim's (I'll let him introduce himself).

Yeah, it's been done before, I know, but it's reliable, if nothing else. Also, our color-and-update guy, Joe Ishikura, doesn't get his own place to talk about stuff, because he's not important enough *Spits out tongue* He's gonna' color me green for that, I just know it...

Anyways, as we're new here, let me outline where I wanted to go with this whole "webcomic" thing, First off, comic #1 really only tells a part of the story. Really, what I wanted to do here was combine a few different elements into one comic for a big fat ol' plethora of fun.

The comic is kinda' a rebirth of sorts of the old Howard and Nester comics from Nintendo Power (With whom we hold no affiliation, fine print, copyright and all that), but expanded upon. We've expanded the focus to videogames, anime, and movies. Also, there's considerably less shameless Nintendo propaganda! Wheee! In addition, there'll actually be an ongoing storyline. Yay!

To introduce the characters, uhhhhh... Tim's the black-haired one and Cas is the red-haired one. Uhhh... Okay, let me start over here... Caspian X (Cas) is my online nickname, and the character is based loosely on myself. To clarify, if Cas does something stupid or strange or outright disgusting, that shouldn't be taken as a reflection of myself so much as a reflection of me trying to make an interesting webcomic.

In the same way, Sir T. Magus (Tim) is Tim Torres' online nickname, and the character is based loosely on him (With bits and peices of my personality thrown in for flavor. Hey, I'm the writer. I can do whatever I want). And as before, if Tim does anything embarassing, it shouldn't be taken as a reflection of his real-life persona.

... You're not listening, are you? You're gonna' associate us with our characters anyways, aren't you? Well, poo. Hrm... anyways, as I said, we're starting off with a grand opening of three comics! Woo hoo! After this, we plan on puting up new comics every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and every now and then one will be in color.

7/4/01 - "Today we celebrate... our Independence Day!"

It's reassuring that our affluent nation is wealthy enough to produce an expensive movie that celebrates our freedom and free will. As well as our strippers, and our ability to KICK ALIEN ASS! Meanwhile, poor people crowd our cities, children are shooting each other (Yes, ALL of them), and Randy Quaid still walks our streets.

But I'm not gonna base our country's ideals around one simple, costly movie. No! Instead I'm gonna talk a bit about this little thing here called Mognet. Happy Fourth of July!

I am Tim Torres and this *does his best Richard Attenborough, that is, it isn't very good* is Mognet, a webcomic starring *gasp* two guys and their undying love for videogames, anime, and movies. Except...there's a twist! I cannot reveal what that big, fat twist is yet (hint: it has something to do with the title of this l'il comic) but I can reveal this strip's basic premise. Which is to poke fun at all the other webcomics out there. All the Penny Arcades, Megatokyos, Sluggy Freelances out there... all the ones that follow a certain guideline to be deemed a *drumroll* webcomic! That guideline is what Mognet pokes. Mognet pokes it with a big, satirical stick of parody. And it's got metaphors up the wazoo.

What's that? "Is that really ALL Mognet will be about?" Fret not, reader. Once the overall introduction is settled Mognet will be all about story and character. A well-written, coherent story and developed, uber-cool characters! If only you knew the things we have in store for you... if only...

Oh, by the way, I'm Mognet's artist. I pencilled and inked that strip up there. Oh, it may sound like a small task, but I can assure you IT IS NOT. I poured all my blood and sweat in the three strips there up now and--... I'm feeling a bit woozy. *walks it off* Anyway, the first strip is obviously the best one of the three, quality-wise. The original version of that strip had a Dunkin Donuts store in the background but aliens abducted it. Now we'll have to wait 40 years for it to return in the desert. Blast it. The other two vary in quality and style. The SD Tim is a little... weird. As are Jake's facial expressions. Expect this "strangeness" in character design... this strangeness in the overall LOOK of the comic to continue until I hit my stride. WHICH will hopefully be in the second week ^_^; heh heh... If not, expect the look to change as my (minimal) skill increases.

So... uhhh..... err... Ciao for now!
