![]() Jake's Clever Banter Figures. Because I'm the responsible one, I have to update the 'site and put up a friggin' comic instead of playing Smash Bros. Melee. I hope you're happy. *Sigh* As for Melee, the game's a lot faster with a lot more going on at the same time than in the first one. Add in a different controller and I now suck at the sequel to a game I was once the master of. Don't worry, though. I'll reclaim my crown. *Possibly spoilers, I guess* So ya' know, J-Puff has a new move that sets her rolling at high speed towards the opponent. What could possibly be one of the best moves in the game (It sends the opponent flying), has a huge downside- if you miss, she'll keep rolling all the way off the level. So, in other words, she still sucks. Gannondorf also sucks. Picture Captain Falcon. Now picture him slow as molasses, with a pathetic little jump and maybe slightly more power. And lessee... Sheik rocks (Though I can't seem to find any use when she's in her "Zelda" state), the Ice Climbers and Peach are interesting and add variety (Kinda' like Ness did in the first one), and Bowser's decent (Though I still perfer D.K.). And... that's about all the new and/or secret characters I've unlocked so far. *End spoilers* And no, Tim, I haven't played Pikmin yet. I'm waiting to get that one until the reviews come in. ... And returning to the comic, I find myself feeling guilty in that I haven't written anything for it in months, only to realize I've written ahead enough to cover even ANOTHER month or two, at our current rate, at least. So, lucky me, I can go and play some more Smash Bros. while Tim struggles to get the next strip ready on time. Nyah nyah! ... Just kidding, Tim. Don't hurt me, okay? 12/4/01 - Today is the day we get our Smash on. That's right! Today we, as Americans, claim our god-given right to inhale. Our right to stab others with sharp objects. The right to shoot guns, toss familiar faces off cliffs, and pound the hell out of anyone who opposes us! Today, we can play Grand Theft Auto 3! ........ Hehehehe. Just kidding. Though that game really HAS grown on me. You'd be surprised at the number of ways I've found to decimate laundry trucks... Today, we finally get to put our grubby little hands all over SSB: Melee! God, I can't wait. Have you heard the re-orchestrated version of Kirby's theme? Good god, it's beautiful. If ya' haven't, head over to Planet Gamecube. They have some MP3s for download. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. Oh, and I'd better apologize for Tim- Although we do appreciate you posting on the boards, we completely understand if you haven't been... That's your perogotive. Though, someday, I just may hold a contest completely on the boards, and those of you that don't post there'll miss it. But, for the time being, we have bigger fish to fry. Tim had BETTER be using his spare time to catch up *Gets in fire truck and backs over the driver (God, I LOVE doing that!)*, or else bad things *Starts speeding towards Tim's house* will happen *Starts to uzi a few Triads, just for fun* to him *Drives straight-on into a police car* ..... Good lord, I'm playing that game too much... Dude, is that a little airplane? ... I wonder if I can jack it... |
![]() Tim's Clever Banter Yes, another day without a comic strip. I'm still working on it, I'm a busy busy man. But, y'know, why not help the time pass by actually USING THE MESSAGE BOARD! Just a suggestion. In the videogame world, both Smash Brothers Melee AND Pikmin are released today, two titles I must get once I get a Gamecube. Of the two, I'm more excited about Pikmin. I think it's obvious why. A freakish and bizarre game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto? Ha, well, shave my legs and call me grandma. On the other hand, the sequel to Smash Brothers boasts improved gameplay and more characters like the Ice Climbers and Princess Zelda. To that I say, BITCHIN'. Meanwhile, I'm very VERY content with Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Ico. After much thought I've concluded that I did indeed enjoy MGS2 and its zany plot, the bizarre Otacon subplot aside. Devil May Cry is quite possibily (or at least, one of) the greatest action game ever... and yes, I still haven't beaten it yet. It's a tough little cookie. And Ico... well, I still haven't spent much time with it but it's a nice, relaxing break from the frenzied fighting of Solid Snake and Dante. Gotta love those graphics. In the movie world, I've FINALLY seen Braveheart over the weekend. It was a pretty good movie, but I don't think those battle scenes deserved all that hype. Sure, they were... big. Too big. I dunno, I guess I like my battles one-on-one, or one-on-a-whole-lot, in the case of Wallace fighting against the Brits in his home village. But anyway, the soundtrack was definitely the best part. Yasunori Mitsuda made me a big fan of Celtic music, so James Horner's score was... well, brilliant. Braveheart's music definitely ranks up there with Xenogears'. In the anime world I've been watching Video Girl Ai and Love Hina. Both HUGE departures from the adrenaline/testosterone-pumped Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, but hey... I'm a softy at heart and so far, I'm actually liking them. Both are sweet, and funny, and the characters are actually kind of interesting. Who could resist Megumi Hayashibara (Lina Inverse, Faye Valentine, and Rei Ayanami) as a video girl whose only wish is to stay with you? Man, I think I'm writing too much. I suppose you're all thinking I should stop watching shoujo anime, movies, playing videogames, and get to work on comics. Well--
*runs away*
