![]() Jake's Clever Banter There were a few late entries that still met the deadline, and Tim hasn't seen them yet, so I want to get his opinion before we pass final judgement on the contest winner. Meantime, sit tight and all will be revealed... uhh... sooner or later. Oh, and by the way, I fixed the links page... 1/30/02 - Let me tell you my story... Good god, do I have a lot to talk about. First off, website stuff. Again, our contest is still running, so please feel free to enter. It's reeeeeeeal easy. It won't take more than five minutes, I swear. And remember, today and tomorrow are the last days to enter. Oh, and by the way, I know Gendo's positioning in the strip suffers a continuity error- That is MY fault, not Tim's, and it WILL be fixed by the time the contest comes to a close. Yeah, I know you over there were really cool and all that for noticing, but I have to take exception to this, if only for the reason that if we were to make your line a valid entry, we couldn't in clear conscience fix the error that made it possible to begin with. Uhhh... and stuff. Also, I think our links page is in need of some Spring Cleaning, so the following changes will be made fairly soon: One, Okashina Okashi will be removed because both Tim and I agree that it has gotten too damn boring (Despite that it used to be so good we did a cameo strip with their characters, I think it's high time we move on). Two, Oldskooled's link will be changed to reflect their new page. Three, a warning will be placed next to RPGWorld stating that the 'site has been down for some time (I'd remove the link, but I like that comic too damn much to remove it completely). Four, a warning will be placed next to North stating that the 'site is in a period of transition (I should have deleted that link eons ago, but as they're supposedly re-starting fairly soon, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt). In the meantime, Tim is trying to fend off school long enough to do a few strips, but I fear you'll have to make do with the contest this week. Who knows, maybe we'll surprise you (And ourselves). Meantime, I have... complications of my ow. Oh, where to begin... OK, for starters, I'm trying to finally get around to sending my E3 application (Since I work for CompUSA, who's technically involved with game sales, I'm told I actually qualify for entry) I had a terrible problem with a... bug infestation, and then there's the videogames... oh, the videogames... where to begin. Well, I should start by saying that, even with all the new games I've been playing, I still come back to FFX, GTA3, Tony Hawk 3, and SSB:Melee. Those four games are so fun, they never seem to get old. On the other hand, I HAVE been playing many a new game. For starters, I've been playing Jak and Daxter, which is a good-not-great platformer. A decent waste of time, though in no way spectacular. Gaw, what I'd give for another game with the presence of awe Mario 64 brought to the table... Well, meantime, it's still a great game, just not very original. Also, I've been playing Medal of Honor: AA. Now, I've been a fan of the series for some time, and the very first MoH on the PSX ranks in my opinion as one of the best FPSes of all time, on any platform. Playing this game is like playing the original, except you can finally use the good ol' Mouse/KB, the in-game storyline is more elaborate, the graphics are much better, yadda yadda yadda. It's like good ol' times again. A pity my PC is barely powerful enough to run it. My screen freezes every time I hit an auto-save, and when I have fellow trops helping me out, my framerate plummets. C'est la vie. But I'm not about to spend 2K on a PC just so I can play games on it. In addition, I've had a HUGE series of developments in the world of consoles, involving PS2s, Gamecubes and XBoxes (Oh my!), but that's so long I think I'll post about it in the forums so you don't have to sift through it here. 1/24/02 - "Dear god help us, we're in the hands of [web] engineers" Well... Looks like we're finally back up and running. I warned you Keenspace might go coo-coo for Coacoa Puffs on me. Unfortunately, this comes at a very poor time. Combined with the low frequence of strips that plagued the 'site late last year, I fear our readership may be reaching a new low. That said, at least we're benefitting by the complete lack of traffic we're attacking our server with, but I'd still like to liven this place up a bit. So, this week... Well, let me rephrase... It would have been this week if it weren't for the Kenspace screwup. So, the end of this week through to almost the end of next week, we're gonna' take a break from the norm and hold another contest. In this one, we're giving away a Webcam, and all you have to do to enter is send me an E-Mail with one little sentence. How cool is that!? WELL!? Meantime, Ish and I have a pretty good idea which strips you'd like to see in color first, so we'll get started on that right away. Actually, both Ish and I have made a good deal of progress on coloring our first strips already. Hopefully, we'll be revealing the first of them soon. Meantime, enter the contest. It'll take you all of five minutes, and considering this 'site's readership, you'll have a one-in-five chance of getting a Webcam. Good luck! |
