![]() Jake's Clever Banter Oh, and... uhhh... Happy created-by-greeting-card-companies-to-make-money day. Tim's been hard at work on the next strip for a while, but he took a small break to doodle us a cutesie Cait Si-Err... Vincent. Personally, I perfer FAYE Valentine, but if you perfer chibi guys to sexy girls, Tim, then whatever floats your boat... I'm just kidding, of course. Meantime, lots has been going on. I'm now sick of Halo- too damn repetitive, and the graphics get worse and worse the farther you go. I swear, by the last level, the framerates must drop below 15FPS at times, and that's being generous. Granted, there's a lot going on, but 15FPS? That's ludicrous. Also, I've been anxiously been awaiting Mario Advance 2 (I've been having Mario World cravings for months), and now that I have it... I have mixed reactions. The slightly altered controls were necessary for the conversion to the GBA, so that much I can understand, but the sound seems drastically changed. It... just isn't the same. I suppose in the end, it's still the same great game, but it doesn't feel like it. On the flipside, I finally found a good walkthrough on how to use the Unreal Tournament level editor, UnrealEd. This makes me immensely happy, as I'll now be able to put my creative skills to work on a videogame. And although the same could be said for RPGMaker on the PSX a few years back, I won't have to deal with a shitty interface, and I'll actually be able to share my creations with the world. Don't worry, though- I'll still work on Mognet, and I've actually made a good amount of progress on coloring a few strips, although it's a lot tougher than I thought. Meantime, enjoy your fake-ass holiday. I'm sure The Man loves the money you spend on worthless scraps of paper with really dumb jokes printed on them. Hey... Maybe we should start selling Mognet in print form! Money money money... 2/2/02 - I know, I know... I'm late. Well, today's strip is the winner of the contest. I have to say, when I first saw it, I wasn't all that impressed. It seemed straightforward and all, and didn't do much for me. Upon reading it a second time, though, I realized the silliness of it all. The stairs... full? Heh, well anyways, Tim and I went back-and-forth over who should win (The reason why we're so late in announcing the winner), but we finally decided that this was, in our opinions, the funniest and most original entry. Thanks to all who entered! Originally, this was meant to be a normal strip, but Tim didn't like the line I picked for the ending. So, seeing that it could have ended any number of different ways, I made it into a contest. You'll see my original idea on Monday (And yeah, maybe just this once, some of you are better writers than me). In the meantime, congratulations to Kevin Clark- your webcam will be sent shortly. |
