You could, like, win a ton of stuff. 4/17/02 - Part two of three is up And here it is! 4/15/02 - Award time! And about time, too. Tim and I have, since January, been picking and choosing and deciding what were the definitive games, movies, etc. of 2001. And yeah, I know it's mid-April and a bit late for a "Best of 2001" article, but... well... we're doing a "Best of 2001" article. That goes to show that not only are we completely unoriginal, but we're late at being unoriginal, too! But wait! Don't get completely discouraged. These "Best of" articles that sprout up on the 'net after the turn of every year are annoying because they're full of total BS, right? Well, put us to the test, then. We're doing three articles this week (M-W-F) focusing on different areas we want to award accolades, and at the end of it, we're gonna' have you tell us that we're full of BS. More specifically, we'll have you pick one award that either Tim or myself chose and tell us why you think it was BS. Don't like Tim's pick for fave movie? Don't like the fact that my top ten games list didn't include your fave game? Let us know, and we'll award you for it. You see, we're using this "Awards ceremony" as an excuse to roll out the biggest contest Mognet's ever had. We'll be releasing more details when we roll out the contest at the end of this week, but after all's said and done, we'll be awarding two prize packages- Once consisting of a brand new copy of Serious Sam and a Belkin Nostromo speedpad controller, and the other consisting of new copies of four classic Star Wars games- Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Tie Fighter and X-Wing. So yeah, I'd like to think this whole awards thing isn't just a bunch of crap after all. So, without further ado... Part 1! In other news, I finally found out why E3 had no record of my registration- I faxed my papers to the wrong phone number. I tried again on Friday (The last day you could register), but the phone line was busy.... so they extended the deadline until the following Friday. I am so goddamn lucky. Gaw, I hope I can go... Aaaaand, on a final note, the XBox's controller problem has now been solved (Sorta'). A company called Innovation makes an adaptor that'll let you use PS2 controllers on your XBox. I tested it out with Halo and Project Gotham, and I can say, it works very well, the button layout is adequate, and it even transfers the analog buttons and rumble feature over. No longer do XBox owners have to settle for a controller that feels like you're holding two potatoes. This makes me happy.
