![]() Jake's Clever Banter While Tim is working hard to keep the updates comin', I'm happy to announce that a project I've been working on for some time has finally started to get some results. A while back, I asked you guys to tell me what strips you wanted to see colorized, and after gauging your opinions, I started to work on coloring two strips- one that'd be really easy, and one that one of the readers asked for. For starters, this strip. No doubt Tim would rather it be forgotten (Hehehehe), but it was easy to do, so, poof- color! And then there's this one. I forgot WHO asked me to do this, but I do know it was requested. Anyone else want a strip colored? Say so in the forum! 7/15/02 - I'm too fuggin' nice It's 3AM, and I'm working on an update for my comic. I owe that much to Tim for actually getting the strip to me on time. The bastard. 7/12/02 - How's this for a change? Comic on time, late commentary. Well, just wanted to say a few things. I finished watching both the Blue Seed and Nadia anime serieses. Both are very good, but not spectacular. Both have good albeit far too breif endings. Oh, and I dunno what those anime nuts are smokin', 'cause I can now safely say Disney didn't steal a damn thing from Nadia for Atlantis. Everything Disney stole for Atlantis came straight from Stargate. You know what Atlantis and Nadia had in common? They're both based on the Atlantis legend, and they both use a lot of the color blue. That's it. Anime nuts are full of crap, aren't they? 7/10/02 - Yeah, you heard right. It blows MiB2 is a cash-in, plain and simple. They took all the characters from the first film, paraded them in front of the screen for eighty minutes, tossed in a few half-hearted celebrity cameos, and a lot of really bad jokes. None of the originality or charm of it's predecessor, Men in Black 2 is a way for the original's creator's to milk their franchise a second time with as little effort as possible. Did you think it looked funny in the previews too? Well, that's where all the good jokes were. I dare anyone to name me a good joke that wasn't crammed into the minute and a half trailer. On the other hand, I just came back from an advance screening of Reign of Fire, and I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn't come close to topping my fav'rit of the year so far (Minority Report), but it's still very good. It avoided the pratfalls it seemed doomed to fall into- it took itself seriously but not too seriously, and it wasn't a "Skinheads versus Dragons" flik like the trailers would make it out to be (In fact, the trailers did a very crappy job of portraying the movie). I must admit, I do think it seemed a bit short, and the movie spent a bit too much time looming on the people instead of the real stars- the dragons (They were REALLY well-done and actually made to seem quite fearsome). In the end, a very good summer blockbuster-type movie. |
![]() Tim's Clever Banter Man, this week went by fast. More farewells today. I said goodbye to Tidus, Yuna, Lulu, Wakka, and the rest of the Final Fantasy X's cast. After seven or so months I finally finished the best Final Fantasy since VI, and it was... well, great. The final battles were kind of easy, because of my incredibly strong characters, and that final FINAL battle was kind of... well, REALLY easy, but otherwise it was all well worth it. The ending was fitting, beautiful, and bittersweet. How Square plans to continue the story in "Yuna" and "Rikku" versions is anyone's guess but I am highly anticipating 'em. *sniff* I'm always so sad after a Final Fantasy game... Oh well, I've got many other games to tide me over till that tiny chance FFXI sees the light day.
Meanwhile, enjoy the new comic. It's kind of a
quickie, but a goodie, so uh, enjoy! Having seen the series in its chronological order, starting with his origin story, Tsuioku Hen (the story of his time as a ruthless assassin) to the more lighthearted TV series, where he met and changed the lives of every person he met - to this. It was all done so well... and unforunately, I can't really... sufficiently describe how I felt about it. It was sad. Really sad. But so perfect, and subtle... it's been a while since I've felt an attachment this strong to an anime character. I'm gonna miss Rurouni Kenshin. Heh, well, now that I got the fanboy gushing outta the way, enjoy the comic everyone.
Enjoy. MIB2 - A sequel for sequel's sake. I probably would've liked it more if the fuggin' trailer didn't spoil every funny thing. Still, it was entertaining enough to not be crap. Behind Enemy Lines - Rented this. What looked like crap in the trailers actually turned out to be a cool little military action flick. Ignore Owen Wilson's deformed nose and enjoy the frenetic action. Final Fantasy X - I am conquering this game. Got Tidus', Yuna's, Auron's, and Rikku's best weapons. Captured a ton of monsters and got loads of rare items. I love this game. Excel Saga - Watched the first episode of this awesome DVD. Pretty funny, very random, and really weird. So, I should love it. One thing's for sure, the animation is fantastic. Rurouni Kenshin: Seisou Hen- The second OVA series, which takes place AFTER the events of the TV series. Recently got these fansubs but didn't watch 'em yet. If it's half as good as Tsuioku Hen (the first OVA) then I'll love it. Amadeus - I rented the movie about Mozart recently. Really good, fantastic acting and music... expectedly. Heh. Inspired me to play Liberi Fatali on the piano more seriously. Magnetic Rose - Judging from the anime music video over at Big Mog Magnetic Rose is some sci-fi anime movie about some crazy seductive opera woman. Anyone know anything about this? It got me pretty interested. Today's comic - This took quite a fuggin' long time. Mainly because I was busy doing all that stuff I just briefly mentioned. Yes, I'm a lazy, lazy good for nothing. But c'mon, it's the summer! Anyway, Solid Tim is in the tank hangar. I couldn't really convey that because my art blows but I thought I'd tell ya anyway. Ah well. Still a good effort, I think. |
