![]() Jake's Clever Banter New art, newe comic, and a tiny update from me. Later! EDIT: I want to make sure to mention a 'site before I finish today. Penny Arcade made a breif note of it, but it deserves attention. This article and the rest on the 'site are outstanding articles that offer incredible insight into the psychology of game design and gameplay. While that might sound boring, give it a try anyways- the stuff this guy talks about help us to understand what programmers are thinking when making a game and what we're thinking when playing it. More specifically, in this articles, it deals with walls we set up in multiplayer competitive games where we keep ourselves from winning. I'm... losing you... Just trust me, it's a GREAT read. 7/29/02 - Uwouoh... I eschewed sleep the other night in favor of Frequency. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but I've been paying for it for the past 2 days. The price you pay for love. And it is love. I'm telling you people- this game is sooooooooooooooo awesome. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to attempt to get back some ten or twenty hours of sleep. Oh, yeah, I still have the rest of the update to do. Shit. Well, for starters, new strip. And might I say, I'm very pleased with how this one turned out. I was laughing as I wrote it, and I laughed again when I saw how well Tim had drawn it. This is possibly my favorite strip so far. Damn good stuff. I've also colored yet another strip- one I'm sure our male readership will appreciate (And as for our female readership- We're guys! Waddya' expect?). And I've also taken the opportunity to make a keen ad banner out of it, as well. Oh, don't act surprised- this is a webcomic. We're supposed to act like slobbering immature fanboys. And with that, I think I've said all that needs to be said, for now. Thank god, 'cause I wanna' sleep. |
![]() Tim's Clever Banter Heh heh heh. That MIB2 reference oughtta sizzle Jake's bacon....wait a second. That sounds vaguely sexual. Nevermind. AHEM!! I have returned from Otakon, and it was QUITE. COOL. There was a little mix-up with registration and stuff, but other than that I had a very good Saturday. First, we (we being my Thundercats shirt-clad brother, girlfriend-as-Rikku, and other annoying sibs) went to this panel discussion featuring some key animators from the Madhouse production studio. Off course, the main guy WE were interested in was Yasuhiro Nightow, the creator of the gunglinger action series Trigun. He was pretty cool, but the coolness ended once the animators never stopped answering the show-goers endless barrage of questions. Some questions were actually quite interesting, but after the 100,000th I sadly forfeited my chance for an autograph and we decided to leave. Fortunately, they DID officially announce the Gungrave TV series, based directly off Nightow's upcoming PS2 game, as well as the Ninja Scroll TV series and the second Ninja Scroll movie. It was very cool that we were the first ones to hear about that. Next, we went off to the GIGANTIC dealer's room! Not only was it sprawling with every kind of anime merchandise (I bought a few cool shirts), it was TEEMING with bizarro cosplayers! Most of 'em were very cool, and very friendly, and were glad to pose for snapshots. Rikku and my brothers got a lot of great video footage as well. Overall, we did a LOT of walking and the best part was definitely the cosplaying. If I had known ahead of time I would've attended the webmanga panel, the art show, and any of the anime screenings...
But hey! There's always next year! What's this mean for YOU?! Well, nothing really. For me, it means I get to traverse the hallowed halls of the Baltimore Convention Center dressed as Wolfwood, the badass priest from Trigun! I thought about cosplaying as Tim Magus, y'know THE MOGNET CHARACTER, but I'm not that low. And there'll probably be about seventy other Wolfwoods but, dammit, I'm gonna be the best looking Wolfwood there dullgernnit. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to the show's first day, but I WILL be on the floor Saturday. I'm not gonna have an artist's booth or whatever, since... well, I never registered for one in this short a time, and I'm not really all that confident to display my art to the OTAKU MASSES at a convention quite yet...maybe next year. This should be interesting, as I will be an undercover web manga artist, a surveyor, in a world of fans and industry big shots! I'll be sure to take plenty of pics and to buy plenty of merchandise! Merchandise! Merchandise! So LOOK OUT for a sexy Wolfwood (sans the bigass cross) brandishing a video camera and a goofy grin. If you don't recognize the real Tim Magus at first, I'll be one of the few Wolfwoods hanging out with Rikku...
Till Monday (hopefully)! Enjoy the comic! ... Yeah, I knew it was gonna suck, but I was in the mood for a bad movie. I mean, it's been a LONG LONG time since I've see a REALLY shitty movie. Hell, even Resident Evil was surpisingly entertaining, and We Were Soldiers was extremely mediocre (and EXTREMELY patriotic). And alas, I missed out on The Time Machine. Oh well, I could always waste another $8 and two hours to see Eddie Murphy's latest, The Adventures of Pluto Nash.... or I could wish real hard and someone would just throw that terrible man out of Hollywood forever. Yeah... boys have dreams... But I also gotta see Road to Perdition, Reign of Fire, and the Powerpuff Girls movie. Y'know, there's not ONE theater in my area that plays the PPG movie at a NORMAL time? All the times are 1 or 4PM. Who the hell goes to a movie at a time like that?! MAN!! That fries my cheese. Meanwhile, MOGNET: THE METAL GEAR SOLID ARC is finally moving along and Tim is in the computer laboratory, having skipped many a plot point. There, there, Tim Magus, we're all rootin' for ya. Oh, before I forget, there's a new piece in the art section. Yup, it's everyone's favorite buxom brawler, Tifa Lockhart! It's been a while since I drew her last, so if she looks a little...off. Blame my awful memory. And yes, I know she's missing Tetsuya Nomura's trademark belts (because I know you're ALL so concerned about that). Maybe I'll add 'em in in the future. Otherwise, Enjoy! |
