No, really

12/17/02 - No, I swear Tim is not dead

Nor do I blame him for having a lot of schoolwork. And yes, I "borrowed" this joke from The Simpsons. And if you don't like it you can bite me.

12/5/02 - Really dumb shit

It didn't even really need a comic, did it? I mean, Sony's claim that people have forgotten the NES and SNES? It's so ludicrously stupid it's a joke in and of itself. And while I know some of the young kids getting into games these days are too young to remember the NES and SNES, I'd venture to say the majority of us sure as hell DO remember them.

Meantime... I'm tired.

12/3/02 - More Metroid

Well, we did one more Metroid strip because... well, Metroid Prime rocks. Idunno how far Tim is in it (Or if he's even played it yet), but I'd say Metroid Prime nabs Game of the Year award bar none, with the only contender to even come close being Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell (But more on that another time). And say what you will about Vice City, but I don't think that last year's best game with a few improvements should be considered this year's GotY too. And that's only if you consider GTA3 last year's best game. Don't get me wrong, I loved GTA3 to peices, but Metroid Prime is a frickin' work of ART.

And Metroid Fusion is... meh. The fact that you're given little to no choice as to where you can go throughout the entire game sort of defeats the purpose of a Metroid game. I mean hell, Prime was in first-person and it was more of a Metroid game than Fusion was. Damn shame.

Also, I just now learn that the new Kirby game for GBA is in fact just a remake (Albeit a DAMN pretty one) of Kirby's Adventure. Well, bring it on, I say. I don't have a copy of Kirby's Adventure, so getting one that has a ton of extras and looks like a dream (No pun intended) is a special treat for me. And I can't wait to try a lot of these games out on my TV next year when Nintendo releases the GameCube GBA Player. Ohhhhh, man. This must be Nintendo's way of thanking me for having the patience to wait through the nearly complete eclipse of games earlier this year... and the drought of games in the N64 library... and the Virtual Boy... OK Nintendo, this doesn't make up for all of that yet, but it's a good start.

11/28/02 - Turkeys and shit.

Figgers. On what is probably the biggest "Food" day of the year, I have a hugeass cold and a sore throat. Maybe this is life's way of telling me to diet. Well, just maybe I'll give life a big "Screw you!" by eating a ton of shit anyways, just to spite it. He said, as he shook an angry fist at the sky and no one in particular.

Anyways, yes Metroid Prime really IS that good. We're talking automatic game of the year kinda' shit here, man. And anyone who bitches with the words "First" and "Person" gets a beating. I'll make sure said beating ends with bone protruding through skin if "Shooter" immediately proceeds those two words. Metroid Prime is the bizomb, the shiznit, and whatever other slang you punk kids use these days.

And yeah, I'm in a bad mood, but I'm sick, so I'm entitled.

11/26/02 - Square and Enix look to take over the world: Film at 11!

Wow, that's some news, eh? Not only did Square buy Quest (The makers of Ogre Battle and the outstanding Tactics Ogre) a few months back, but now they've merged with Enix to become the Godzilla of console RPG companies. To be sure, there are others out there, with Namco's Monolithsoft working on Xenosaga, Bandai's upcoming .hack and Sony's own RPG efforts (As well as a few others here and there), but this merger definitely brings the RPG situation a step closer to monopoly status.

So what does this all mean for us game players? I have no fuggin' clue. But being that two of the best RPGs ever created were collaborations between these companies (Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy Tactics), then factor in Square's partnerships with companies also known for great RPGs (Square and Namco have a thing goin' on, which seems to have some relevance to Xenosaga, Square's working with Brownie Brown on a new Mana game, and and and there's rumblings of HAL's Earthbound team working with them on a new RPG), and I think it's reasonable to hope this'll mean many more great RPGs, and a bit of help shaking off the stagnancy Square's been suffering for years.

In any case, it's big news even if we have no fuggin' clue what will come out of it. I HATE the fact that the confrence where they'll make all their announcements will be on April 1st, which means we won't find out what's true until April 4rth or 5th. I swear, the gaming media becomes a bunch of childish morons on April Fool's Day, and the gaming public suffers for it. To make things worse, the whole thing starts in February because EGM's a bunch of morons that don't know what month it is.

Anyways, I'm tired. G'night!

11/25/02 - I swear

Tim apparently felt we were spending way too much time on storyline and not enough on PUNCHlines.

"But golly gee, Tim!" says I, "Do you really think that changing the format of the strip will make you feel inclined to draw them more often?"

Upon which he responded by throwing down his whiskey bottle and screaming incomprehensible profanities at me like "You jaguss! I'wll do whadabber I guddum fleesh! Yooo jush do waddasay an all do da soopit drarigs."

And there you have it. Mognet's now got no continuity, which means I can take a shotgun to Tim and blow a million holes in him in one strip, only to have him back to normal the next. Oh, the possibilities...

And before I forget, due to crap with Hotmail, we sorta' haven't gotten any of the E-Mail sent to us over the past month or two, so if you can please re-send anything you sent us.

12/4/02 - Holiday Rush

Well, there's the comic. I, of course, will never forget the NES or the Super Nintendo and I adore the Big N for keeping their classics alive, whether by GBA ports or NES emulation in Animal Crossing. Which, by the way, is a very fine game. Who knew pulling weeds and writing letters to goats could be so fun?

That's just one of a million games I gotta beat before Christmas rolls around... and it's already in three weeks. 3 WEEKS!! Is it just me or did this year go by faster than... a really fast thing that... shoots... other fast things. It doesn't even feel like Christmas time, what with New Jersey's filthy lack of snow and all the assholes running about. Yeesh.

Oh well, I saw Die Another Day over the Thanksgiving break. People either seem to love it, hate it, or are reasonably entertained by it. I guess I fall in the third category. There's a lot the movie does right, regarding James Bond as a character, but a run for its... cheese. Which I don't really mind. My movie tastes range from classics like Memento and In The Bedroom to action fluff like The Mummy and Starship Troopers. Ah well. Adaptation, the movie based on Being John Malkovich scribe Charlie Kaufman's life, is coming out this Friday, so be sure to see that!

...

My header image is Tsukasa, the main character in Bandai's upcoming new fantasy series .hack//SIGN. You've no doubt heard of it by now, it's about a gamer who's "stuck" in an online RPG called The World, and he's supposedly found a secret hacked item or something that could... do bad things. I'm not entirely sure what it's about myself, but I've managed to find the first three episodes or so on Kazaa and it seems very promising. It's got an amazing presentation, with character designs by Evangelion's Yoshiyuki Sadamoto and a great, unique soundtrack. The animation doesn't seem too bad either, and it's definitely got one of the best first episodes around.

I'd talk more but I gotta jet. Varsity fall sports dinner... ugh.

11/25/02 - We're Back!: A Mognet Story

It's been a while. For anyone who's kept score, you're correct if you said it's been exactly... a.... while...

Being the artist type guy I suppose I owe you an explanation as to what's been UP with me lately. Well, as you can see, we've totally scrapped the epic storyline we've had in store for you. Who knows if it'll turn up again, but frankly, I doubt it. I stopped drawing because I lost enthusiasm for what we were doing here, because, well, it just wasn't very funny.

Time also played a big part, since I didn't have very much of it. School, homework, projects, college apps, and shit like that took up a lot of my time there for a while. It's lightened up considerably since then, thankfully. That whole "social thing" got in the way too.

Ah well. Let's hope the updates keep up this shot around.
