I'm apparently a reeeeeally big fan of a lot of things people don't care too much about. That's not to say I like stuff other people think sucks, but rather, I like stuff other people didn't really think was all that spectacular. Despite disliking the much-acclaimed Dr. Mario on the NES, I loved the puzzlers Yoshi's Cookie and Wario's Woods, which were widely overlooked. I absolutely hated the much-revered F-Zero, but thought it's N64 counterpart was loads of fun. And I must be one of America's biggest fans of Rival Schools. Rather than trying to describe it, I'll go the lazy route and point you to IGN's review of the game. Suffice it to say, this was an oft-overlooked 3D fighter from Capcom (Yes, they CAN do a good 3D fighter) that was campy and quirky and Japanesey in all the right ways. I'm still a bit peeved they haven't added Hinata and Kensuke to the Marvel Vs. Capcom series. Anyways, the reason I bring this up is that it's sequel, Project Justice was released a few weeks ago. I've been having a hell of a time trying to find this game, and as you may have guessed, I just did today. And I'm loving it. This game alone shows that Capcom has what it takes to compete against SNK in terms of style. Despite the rather drab character designs and presentation of the numerous Street Fighter sequels, this game is fresh and interesting, has awesome character designs, and is outright fun to play. In fact, aside from Capcom's Vs. games (Which Project Justice actually plays a lot like), I'd say that this game is, in my opinion, the best exclusive fighter on the Dreamcast. If you can find it, get it. Despite that Capcom put it in the tiniest of distribution circles (Most places seem to have this listed as a seasonal item), it's only $20, and it rocks. In other news, I should warn you that we're going to veer off the story arc briefly again next week, although this time we won't be submitting you to more Shirt-Guy Gom strips. It's something special that I've been planning for a while, and a project that I virtually completed before Tim even knew about it. What is it? You'll see... 8/15/01 - Moving soon... or am I? No, Mognet's not changing addresses (Despite the crappiness of Keenspace as of late), but I am. The question at hand, though, is when. I thought I'd be doing it, like, today, but there have been... complications... I'm not sure when the whole thing will finally go through, but when it does, you probably won't see me for a week or two. And because I'm not entirely sure how well Tim will be able to do updates, you might see nothing but the comics updating for a little while. *Shrugs* We'll play it by ear, I guess. Anyways, in today's strip, we finally reveal... well... just where Cas and Tim are. You may have noticed that the writing is a bit smaller than usual in this one. That's because Tim had to go and make the thing too damn big, and I had to resize it. Oh well. Other than that, I'm working on setting something up for next week, but I'll keep secret until then just what it is. Erm... Anyways... In other news *Reads news* the new Star Wars movie's name sucks (Boo!), The Matrix sequels have been delayed (If they need more time, give it to 'em, I say), the Gamecube's online capabilities won't come into play until next year (Though oddly, I think their projected date was earlier than when Microsoft planned to bring the X-Box online. Hehehehe), and... uhhh... *Can't resist* Yes, yes. Gran Turismo 3 does still rock. Sorry. It seemed appropriate. 8/13/01 - Life back to normal... I hope *Clenches teeth and hopes Keenspace updates alright* Err... uhh... Hi! What, me worry? Don't be silly! Hehehe-*Checks sky for falling elephants* Anyways, Yahiko *Provides link to homepage* sent us some keen fan art- it's a chibi version of ME! Well... actually, it's a chibi version of Cas, who is in turn based loosely on me and... You know what? Nevermind. Here it is. Erm... have a nice day! |
It's been a wild and sexy European adventure but I -- your (That's right! Your!) artist -- am back! First, I gotta say Jake did a pretty good job holding the fort while I was gone. Sure we didn't get any new readers (Where ARE you people?!) but that contest went rather well. Despite the scanty amount of submissions they were all very funny.
As for Anyway, this week of comics is quite an important one. Mysteries are solved, new ones arise. Bonds are made, others are broken. Who will die? Who will live? Is anyone safe? None of these questions WILL be answered! Well, that was lame. On the movie front I saw... a lot of 'em. Planet of the Apes, Rush Hour 2, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch. They were all pretty good (Planet of the Apes was much better than expected!) but the best among them would have to be the one with Zhang Ziyi! YEAAAHHH!!!! Lock Stock was the BEST! I'm almost finished with the Cowboy Bebop series (just got the 5th disc). Yeah. That's right. I am. It's a great series, definitely a favorite. Those who haven't seen it yet should wait for its run on Cartoon Network this September. Okay, it's fantastic there's more anime on TV, right? But I bet you're worrying about the dubbing. Worry no more, CB contains some of the best dubbing this side of Princess Mononoke. Then again, I thought Evangelion's dubbing was decent, an opinion which is INCREDIBLY WRONG so don't take my word for it... See you space cowboy. |
